Double Bay auction room in shock as Bellevue Hill mansion sells for $14.8m,
$3m above expectations.
The six-bedroom, six-bathroom residence with double garage at 24 Fairweather Street had a $12m price guide via Ray White Double Bay principal Elliott Placks and Ray White’s No. 1 agent in the east, Warren Ginsberg.
The auction was just as hot as those seen during the peak of the boom, with nine registered and five competing, bidding had opened at $10.5m rising quickly in $50k and $100,000 increments.
There were still three competing from $13m and, from $14m, it was down to two going head-to-head. Auctioneer James Keenan called the property on the market at $11.8m. There was strong interest from the get-go in the beautifully finished double-brick home with an ideal aspect and layout over two levels on a 627 sqm block in a blue-chip pocket.
