Easter in the East

By Dannielle Hill

In the Eastern Suburbs, long weekends are more than just a calendar break; they’re an opportunity to embrace the lifestyle this incredible pocket of Sydney is known for. But Easter isn’t just about slowing down. Plenty is happening across our neighbourhoods, from markets and seafood feasts to live music and local favourites for those keen to soak up the festive spirit.

Here’s our curated guide to celebrating Easter in some of our favourite places across the East. We’re lucky to live, work, and be part of such a vibrant community.

Hot Cross Buns the Baker Bleu Way

Nothing says Easter like a perfectly baked hot cross bun, and lucky for us, one of Sydney’s best is right in our backyard. Baker Bleu in Double Bay serves both traditional and indulgent versions. Think Sour Cherry and Dark Chocolate or their signature spiced dough packed with orange zest and plump raisins. Trust us: stock up early.

From rides and show bags to artisan markets and seasonal eats, the Entertainment Quarter in Moore Park is the place to go for Easter weekend plans.

Running Saturday 12 to Sunday 27 April, the Sydney Family Show offers a lively mix of carnival rides, live animal encounters, and an Easter Basket Zone for the little ones.

Then, on Saturday, 19, and Sunday, 20 April, the EQ Easter Markets return from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. They showcase gourmet food stalls, boutique fashion, and thoughtfully crafted goods. Whether you’re picking up a last-minute gift or simply enjoying a slow browse with coffee in hand, it’s well worth a visit.

Easter at Chiswick Woollahra

Celebrate Easter Sunday in one of Woollahra’s most beloved garden-to-table settings. On April 20, from 11am to 1pm, little ones can join an Easter Egg Hunt across Chiswick’s lawns and gardens, guided by playful Easter character hosts. After the fun, settle in for a long, celebratory lunch with family and friends. The menu includes a seafood special, perfect for a leisurely lunch or dinner in this serene, leafy spot.

A Team Favourite: Easter at The Royal Oak

A regular go-to for the team, The Oak is turning it on this Easter. Join the Easter Raffle and Joker Poker on Good Friday, or swing by across the long weekend for seafood specials, rooftop DJs, and live music. And while you’re there, don’t miss their Easter Egg Guessing Competition—your chance to win over 3kg of chocolate. It’s a great spot to unwind with good food, great music, and that unmistakable Double Bay buzz.

Easter Bouillabaisse at North Bondi Fish

Easter and seafood go hand in hand, and there’s no better place to honour the tradition than North Bondi Fish. This long weekend, take in the iconic view and settle in for a coastal take on a French classic: Bouillabaisse, reimagined NBF-style with rouille, croutons and gruyere. At $48 per serve, it’s available throughout autumn but is best enjoyed with salty air and a glass of white wine right by the sea.

Easter Feast at The Paddington

Hot cross bun bread and butter pudding? Need we say more? The Paddington is plating up a three-course feast filled with seasonal favourites and signature Merivale flair this Easter Sunday. It’s casual, elevated, and just the right amount of indulgent. Book ahead—it’s bound to fill up.

Wherever and however you’re spending it, we wish you a joyful, relaxing Easter long weekend. Here’s to good food, great company, and celebrating in one of the most beautiful corners of Sydney. From all of us at Ray White Double Bay, Happy Easter.
