By Samantha Krimotat

Elektra

George Calombaris plans on extending his food empire with a “Gaziesque” eatery in Surry Hills. “We will create options – you can book, you can walk in, you can get take out or delivery. It will be a Gazi-esque type place. It’s grungy, it’s gutsy, it’s not about making everything 90 degrees and perfect.”  A restaurant that focuses on flavour, high energy and having a fun night out – how cool is that?

Lankan Filling Station

A traditional Sri Lankan hopper style shop, the basis is a fermented rice flour pancake that’s bowl shaped and crisp on the edges, they are topped with a variety of curries served alongside chutneys and sambals. Keep your eyes peeled for more information on location and opening date.

Chin Chin

Not unlike its’ Melbourne relative Chin Chin will offer up some delicious Pan Asian fare – a relaxed and cool environment with some Sydney spice on top. With Kong Chef, Benjamin Cooper at the helm we expect to see queues around the corner for this one. Located in Surry Hills, it is expected to open August 2017
