The closing date of 31st October, 2013 for Expressions of Interest campaign for Bishopscourt, Darling Point is now just over a week away I am pleased to report strong interest in what has been described as “one of Sydney’s grandest mansions”, because it certainly is that.
As outlined in my recent post since the campaign was first launched we have received extensive media coverage. In fact the EOI made headline news across Australia.
To-date we have received interest from the United Kingdom, the USA including interest from New York and from China as well as from a number of potential buyers from South East Asia. There has also been strong interest from Australian based buyers both local and interstate. Brian White the Group’s joint chairman, also represented Bishopscourt at a recent international property forum in China, attracting local China based interest.
Much of the interest has as expected been based around the iconic nature of this outstanding and gracious 1840s property, as without exception anyone inspecting Bishopscourt have recognized that this is a very rare opportunity.
Set on 6,216 sqm, including elaborate gardens designed by Michael Guilfoyle, the home is being offered for sale for the first time in 100 years. The Anglican Archbishop of Sydney has occupied Bishopscourt since 1911.
The scope to create an outstanding family home and estate is without a peer and when fully restored, Bishopscourt would undoubtedly sit with only a handful of similar properties any where in Australia. And while there is room to create a fantastic home, some of the work has already been done with the roof and exterior recently up-graded at a cost of over $2m. So a few steps have already been taken for someone who will make this their family home for many generations to come.
Now several weeks into the marketing campaign I am sure that the most astute buyer could not help but be attracted by the historic and iconic nature of Bishopscourt, its remarkable history, extensive gardens and potential.
Expressions of interest close 4pm on Thursday, 31st of October 2013.
